Our business network meetings are lots of fun, but also very structured. We want to keep our focus on passing business referrals to each other. After all, that’s the name of the game. We’re all there to network, to grow our businesses together.

When you arrive at Mel’s Lone Star Lanes for our business network, check in with the treasurer, who will be sitting near the cafe counter. A visitor host will welcome you. Network with the members and with the other visitors and subs. Help yourself to lunch from the buffet line and then find a seat.

One-Minute Commercials

The meeting begins with a quick lesson from our education coordinator. This is followed by the one-minute commercial portion of the meeting. Each member is invited to stand up and tell the group about the type of referrals he or she is seeking that week. Subs are asked to stand up at this time to give a one-minute commercial for the member for whom they are subbing. After member commercials are done, visitors and subs are invited to give a commercial for their business, as well, as long as their business category is not represented by a member.

In-Depth Member Education

Each week, one member speaks in more depth about his or her business, educating the rest of the group. We serve as each other’s sales force, so the more we know about the services a member provides, the more business we can pass to that member.

“I Have” Portion of the Meeting

The final portion of the meeting is called the “I have” portion. Members say either “I have a referral” or “I have a testimonial.” You’ll be wowed by the number of referrals that pass each week. As a visitor or sub, you’re not expected to pass any referrals or testimonials, although you are certainly welcome to do so if you wish. Otherwise, we’d enjoy it if you would stand up and share something that you enjoyed about the meeting.
